Building the beehive of your choice

• Once you’ve decided on the type of hive you’d like, we’ll build it for you.

  • This may take 3 – 4 weeks.

  • Special order hives will take longer.

• Hives cost from $650 - $1600 approximately, depending on the style and any additional features such as windows. You will be given a firm quote for your hive during the consultation process.

Getting bees

In Spring we catch swarms of bees so may be able to supply you with bees subject to their availability. If you’d like a swarm of bees:

• Let us know well before spring

• We use a waiting list system that works on a “first-in, first served” basis

• This service will cost $50.

If we’re unable to provide you with a swarm, you can order bees from other local beekeepers via the internet. They are available in spring – again, it is best to order bees well in advance.

Providing our “Beside the hive” mentoring service for 12 months

If you’d like to learn to manage your beehive we recommend you do a “natural bee keeping course” such as those conducted by Adrian Iodice at Beekeeping Naturally, or Tim Malfroy at Natural beekeeping.

Our “Beside the hive” mentoring service will:

• Give you practical experience

• Help you with the inspections

• Provide support over a 12 month period

• Cost $400 for 12 months
